How AI credits work
Each time Whisp does AI work for you (chat messages, recipe imports, photo generation), it uses AI credits. Your family shares a daily credit allowance that resets at midnight. AI chat is a Saucery Pass feature, but free families can still use credits for things like generating a recipe photo.
Daily limits
Your family shares a daily credit pool. Each chat message with Whisp costs one credit. You can check your current usage in Settings > AI Usage.
What happens when you reach the limit?
When your family has used all daily credits:
- The chat input will be disabled with a "Daily limit reached" message.
- A banner at the top of the chat shows your usage status.
- Credits reset automatically at midnight in your timezone.
Checking your usage
- Go to Settings > AI Usage (visible for Saucery Pass subscribers).
- You'll see credits used today, your daily limit, and a percentage bar.
The chat also shows a warning banner when you're approaching the limit (above 50% usage).
Credits and subscriptions
AI chat is a Saucery Pass feature. Free accounts cannot use Whisp chat. Upgrade to Saucery Pass in Settings > Subscription to unlock AI chat and other Saucery Pass features.
