Where the sauce is made

Dinner, sorted.
Every night.

Every recipe in one book, a plan for the week, and a shopping list that writes itself. The same for everyone in the house.

What it does

Five letters, five jobs

  • Index cards and a dip pen Save every recipe Type it in for free. Import from a link, a screenshot or a page of a book with Saucery Pass.
  • A ruled menu card on its easel Arrange the week Drag dinners onto the days. Leftovers count as a night.
  • Garlic and a halved lemon Use what you have The pantry knows what you keep; Whisp knows what to do with it.
  • A wooden spoon across a saucepan Cook hands-free Step by step, read aloud, with timers on the Lock Screen.
  • Coriander with a price tag Eat well for less The list writes itself, and in New Zealand it knows the prices.

Collection

Your whole collection

Paste a link, photograph a page of a cookbook, send a screenshot, or just describe the dish. Every recipe rests as a plain ink drawing, so a screenful of dinners stays quiet until you go looking.

A recipe belongs to the family by default, or to you alone if you’d rather. Anyone in the house can leave a note on it (needs ten more minutes, halve the chilli), and any recipe can be sent to someone outside the family as a plain web page, whether or not they have the app.

This week’s plan

Plan the week, shop once

Drag dinners onto the days, push Thursday’s to Saturday when the week turns, and mark a night cooked when it is. Empty nights? Ask Whisp to fill them from meals you haven’t cooked lately.

One tap turns the plan into a shopping list, organised by aisle, topped up from your pantry staples, and carrying over whatever you didn’t get last week. Everyone in the house sees it tick off as it happens.

At the bench

Cook mode, hands and all

One step at a time on a dark page, the screen kept awake, the ingredients for this step where you can see them. Say “next” with your hands in the flour and it turns the page; say “repeat” and it reads the step back to you.

Timers belong to the step that started them, so several can run at once without you keeping track. Leave the app and the timer comes with you: the Lock Screen and the Dynamic Island on iPhone, a home-screen widget on Android.

Cook mode is on every tier, including the free one.

  • Read aloud

Each step spoken as you reach it, in the app’s own voice.

  • Voice control

“Next”, “back”, “repeat”, “start timer”, “set a timer for five minutes”.

  • Timers that stay put

On the Lock Screen, the Dynamic Island, or an Android widget, still counting after you put the phone down.

Know what it should cost

The list knows the prices

The Saucery watches supermarket prices on the ingredients you actually cook with, keeps their history, and tells you whether this week’s “deal” is one. Plan around what’s cheap rather than finding out at the checkout.

This one is New Zealand only. It reads Woolworths, Pak’nSave and New World, and you pick the store you actually shop at, because the two Foodstuffs banners price store by store. If you cook outside New Zealand, take the rest of the page as the offer and this part as something to come.

Ask Whisp

A wisp of steam that knows your kitchen

Not a chatbot with a recipe database bolted on. Whisp reads your book, your plan, your pantry and what you cooked last month. Ask what to do with the salmon that’s defrosting and it searches your recipes, then scales the one you pick, swaps what you’re out of, writes the rest onto the list and puts it on Thursday.

Whisp is part of Saucery Pass. Every new family gets seven days of it.

Add mum's lasagne, I've pasted the link

Read it. Nonna's lasagne, serves eight, an hour and a half, and most of that is the béchamel. It's in your book.

I'm out of crème fraîche

Sour cream, 180ml, same as the crème fraîche. Take the pan off the heat before it goes in or it splits.

Put it on the list

Added. Swapped it into the recipe too, so it's right next time.

What should we have Thursday?

Chorizo and butterbean stew. You haven't made it since June, and the chorizo is already in for Tuesday. It's on Thursday.

The Lab

A record of what you can cook

Every recipe is quietly filed against the techniques, ingredients, cuisines and equipment it uses. Cook it and those get struck into your book as badges. Not the family’s, yours, each with a short piece on what the thing actually is and every recipe of yours that calls for it.

Alongside it sits the plain record: what was cooked, when, by whom, and what you thought of it. It is also how “we haven’t had that in a while” stops being a guess.

The Lab and the cooking record are on every tier, including the free one.

See it

The same book, on every screen

One family, one collection. Read the whole book on a laptop, open a recipe on the phone in your hand, and cook hands-free at the bench. It is the same book wherever you are standing.

Get dinner on the table

The Saucery is free to keep, with twenty recipes, the plan, the list and cook mode. Saucery Pass lifts the limit and adds Whisp, importing and the grocery prices, and every new family gets the first seven days of it, with no card.
