Notifications and emails
The Saucery sends a short list of notifications and emails, on purpose. Here is all of it.
Notifications on your phone
There are four, and nothing else sends one. Shopping list changes, comments and plan edits never do.
| What it says | When | Who gets it |
|---|---|---|
| Tonight: … | About 8am on your own clock, on a day with a dinner planned. It names tonight's dinner, and tomorrow's if there is one. | Everyone in the family |
| Recipe saved | When a link you shared to The Saucery has been read and is in your book. If it couldn't be imported, it says That link didn't import and why. | The person who shared it |
| Grace joined The Whitcombe Family | When someone uses an invite link you made. | Whoever made the invite |
| Your Saucery Pass trial ends tomorrow | In the daytime, the day before the family's free trial of Saucery Pass ends. It's a notice, with no price in it. Your recipes and plans stay either way. | Everyone in the family |
Cook Mode's timers also alert you when one finishes, even with the app closed. Those come from your phone itself, not from The Saucery's server.
Turning them off
- The morning reminder has its own switch: Settings > Account > Morning meal reminder. On iPhone, open Account by tapping your name at the top of Settings. It's on until you turn it off, and turning it off only affects your phone.
- The others have no switch in the app. To stop them, turn off notifications for The Saucery in your phone's Settings. That stops the timer alerts too.
Allowing notifications
The app doesn't ask on first launch. It asks the first time you plan a meal, with a card called Get a nudge on the day, and the first time you start a Cook Mode timer. Tap Turn on and say yes to your phone's question.
If you said no and want them now, turn notifications on for The Saucery in your phone's Settings. On Android, Settings > Preferences shows whether they're on, with Open notification settings if they're off.
Emails
| When | Can you turn it off? | |
|---|---|---|
| Welcome | Once, when you make an account. | It only comes once. |
| Your week | Monday mornings (New Zealand time). The next seven days of meals with who's cooking, a badge from The Lab one of them would earn, last week's cooking, and the biggest savings at your store. Only sent when your family has something planned or on special. | Yes |
| Product tips & updates | Now and then, about something you haven't tried yet, such as importing a recipe or making a shopping list. At most one a week, to one person in the family. | Yes |
| Sign-in link and code | When you ask to sign in on the web without a password. Both expire in 15 minutes. | Only sent when you ask. |
| Password reset code | When you tap Forgot password?. | Only sent when you ask. |

Turning emails off
In the app, Settings > Account, under Email:
- Weekly email turns off Your week.
- Product tips & updates turns off the tips.
Each email also has an unsubscribe link at the bottom that works in one click, without signing in. Unsubscribing from Your week leaves the tips alone, and the other way round. Turning Product tips & updates back on in the app starts them again.
These switches are per person. Turning off Your week doesn't stop it for anyone else in your family.
