What is The Saucery?
The Saucery is a cookbook that plans your week and writes the shopping list, shared by everyone you cook for. It runs on iPhone, iPad and Android, and in a web browser.
- Your recipe book: import recipes from a website link, a photo of a cookbook page or a screenshot, have Whisp write one, or type your own. Each one gets a painted picture.
- The meal plan: put a dinner on each night, say who's cooking, or let Fill my week suggest dinners for the nights you pick.
- The shopping list: built from the plan, scaled to how many you're feeding, sorted by aisle, and ticked off live on everyone's phone.
- Cook Mode: one step at a time, large enough to read across the bench, with timers, read-aloud and voice commands.
- Whisp: an assistant that knows your recipes, your plan, your list and your house rules. Ask it a cooking question, have it plan the week or find a dinner with what's in the fridge.
- Grocery prices: in New Zealand, prices and specials from your own Woolworths, Pak'nSave or New World store, on the shopping list and on each recipe.
- The Lab: a badge for each technique, hero ingredient, cuisine and piece of equipment in your recipes, such as Braising or Kumara, earned by cooking a recipe that uses it. See The Lab.
- Family sharing: everyone in your household shares the same book, plan and list.
What does a recipe cost to cook?
With Saucery Pass and a store chosen, a recipe says about what a serving costs at your store, such as about $3.20 a serving. It counts what goes in the pot rather than whole packs, so a teaspoon of salt costs a teaspoon's worth. You can sort your recipes cheapest first. Is The Saucery free?
Yes. The free plan has up to 20 recipes, the meal plan, the shopping list, Cook Mode with its timers and voice commands, The Lab and the whole family. Cook Mode is free in full.
