Search, filters and favourites
Searching
The search box is at the top of the Recipes screen. Type part of a name, an ingredient or a cuisine.
Recipes with your words in the title come first, so typing the name of the one you want puts it at the top. After them come recipes that only mention it in the description, the cuisine or an ingredient.
Tags and ingredients
As you type, matching tags and ingredients are offered with how many recipes have them, such as chicken (12). Tap one to add it as a chip under the search box. You can add several, and a recipe has to have all of them: vegetarian and dinner together finds vegetarian dinners. Tap a chip's × to take it off.
Filters
Start a search, or tap into the search box on iPhone, and a row of filter chips appears. Pick one at a time:
- All: every recipe you can see.
- Mine: recipes you added yourself. The two sample recipes a new book starts with don't count.
- Favourites: the recipes your family has hearted.
- Quick: 30 minutes or less, prep and cooking together.
- Cooked: recipes your family has cooked at least once.
- Specials: dinners with something on special at your store this week.
- Cheap dinners: dinners that come to $5 a serving or less at your store, cheapest first.
The filters work alongside your search words and tag chips.
Sorting by cost
With Saucery Pass and a store chosen, the chip row has Price:
- Cheapest first puts the recipe that costs least a serving at the top.
- Under $3 a serving, Under $5 a serving or Under $8 a serving leaves out anything dearer. Any cost takes the cap off.
A recipe needs most of its ingredients priced before it has a cost, so one with too few priced is left out of a cap. Without Saucery Pass or a store, Price and Cheap dinners aren't shown, and on iPhone neither is Specials. See What a recipe costs for how a serving is costed, and Price tracking for choosing your store.
Favourites
Tap the heart on a recipe card to make it a favourite, and again to take it off. A recipe's own page has the same heart at the top, next to Share. You can also press and hold a card and choose Favourite.
A favourite belongs to the family, not just you: a recipe you heart is a favourite on everyone's phone. Anyone in the family can heart a recipe, viewers included.
Find them with the Favourites filter, or the Favourites section on your home screen.
